Clan Ursa.

After a Clan war, which lasted for two hundred years (off and on) in which Clan Ursa and many smaller clans were finally driven from Orkneyjar. As a result some of the remnants of these clans settled in the Norse lands and formed the Ursa Mercenary Company.

It was formed originally by Lord Balistor of the Clan Ursa. Upon the death of the Lord, he is given a secret funeral and then the elders of the clans (the high council) meet to pick a new Lord. By tradition whoever succeeds to the 'Lord of the Clan' takes the name Balistor and looses his own name,it is never spoken again. This was to prevent assasinations of the Lords family. This has perpetuated the legend that Lord Balistor is immortal.

The Mercenary Company was made up of the exiled clans and some Norse folk. There has, over the years, been inter-marriage and thus Celt and Norse both wear the Clan Tartan.

In 1039 the Ursa Mercenary Company re-took the old clan lands and all the exiled clans re-settled these lands under the banner of Clan Ursa. We still have a mercenary company which serves in all parts of the known world. This company was hired by Lord Thorfin of the Bear Faction and consequently, therefore, supported the Queens of the faction.

Upon the death of Thorfin the Clan pledged to the Morrigan and the Mercenary Company went off to earn some foriegn currency. Under Lord General Buchannan, Lord Balistor was appointed Aide de Camp.

After Buchannan's fall from grace the Queens appointed Lord Balistor as Lord High Chancellor, answerable only to the Queens. Clan Ursa has always been, and will always be, fiercely independent. They are also very loyal. They will always do things their own way, but in a crisis they will stand by your side to the bitter end.
