Sudreyjar

Region

Sometimes called the Western Isles, the region of Sudreyjar is comprised of the isle of Sudreyjar itself, and the isles to its west. Generally a bleak and barren region, it is one of the few areas thrat is truly wild, and has changed very little with the passage of time.

The Isle of Sudreyjar itself has recently been split in two by the flooding of a valley to the West of Skioh. This seems to have come about as an after effect of the arriival of the Holy Isle from Avalon into Erdreja.

Trotternish is one of the oldest cities in Caledonia. Circular in design, it is surrounded by an ancient wall which pre-dates most of the current buildings within it.

Sites of Interest

Callanish Fields (499AF)

Situated about five miles to the West of Vaternish lies Callanish Fields. The site of one of the most ferocious battles with the Formorians, Nuada of the Silver Hand, Lugh of the Long Arm, and Balor of the lidless Eye were slain here.

Battlefield

Talisker Distillery

The distillery at Skioh is one of the finest in Caledonia producing Whisky and other spirits famous the world over. The current distillery building is around a hundred years old, although the copper stills themselves are much older – possibly dating from the time of the Great Empire before the cataclysm.

It is not yet known what damage was done to the distillery during the Formorian attacks of 1099-1100

Major Structure

Balor's Tower

Located on the usually uninhabited isle of Suor Ivist, Balor's tower is the tallest structure in the known

world. Thrusting skywards from the barren lands around like some huge black monolith, it's surface seems to be unaffected by the passing of centuries. The history of the tower is shrouded in the mists of time, certainly it had already been there for centuries when the cataclysm came to pass, and it most probably predates the founding of the Great Library at Norhault.

What lies beyond the great black portal at the base of the tower is unknown, the last time anyone is known to have entered the tower is in they year of 498 AF when Lugh Lamfda (Lugh of the Long Arm) passed beyond the portal.

Nuada's Field Circle

On the uninhabited island of Muile there lies the ancient remains of the ritual circle on Nuada's field. The site of the first great battle with the Formorians the circle was shut down as the battle bagan to prevent its use by Formorians during the battle. Once the battle was over an attempt to repower the circle was made without success. It has been suggested that the spilling of Formorian blood on the site has given the field anti-magic properties effectively closing the circle forever. It has now remained inactive for over a millennium.
